Daisy Dress - Sewing

Have you ever seen six pictures and liked one thing about each? The only thing to do is combine them.. My Daisy Dress project was just that! As a spring break sanity project I undertook the creation of “The perfect dress for a fairy tea party”. I collected inspiration, learned pattern making, and sourced fabrics to create a unique garment for myself.

The bulk of my inspiration came from crescentshay, PaperStxrs, and Micarah Tewers on YouTube. I combined the theme of crescentshay's dress, the shape of PaperStxrs's dress, and the overall confidence and audacity Micarah takes to every project. These three sewists are what inspired me to take the leap from doll clothes into making me-sized clothing, and I couldn't have picked a more interesting project!

I drafted the pattern and made the mock up in March/April of 2021, then had to pause while I waited for the daisy fabric I ordered on etsy to arrive. I then learned a very valuable lesson in patternmaking. ALWAYS WRITE YOURSELF NOTES ABOUT THE SEAM ALLOWANCE!! Because I did not have any documentation and had to wait two months between dress iterations, I accidentally made the dress too big.. But it turned out well in the end!
