When my mother was six, my grandfather built her a dollhouse. It has a beautiful Tudor exterior and three floors of rooms that have always been empty. Slowly, over the years, I have been painting walls and creating furniture for the different rooms. I like to work on it when I need to relax. I imagine a future where one day it is finally finished and I can use it for a stop motion project or live photography for a children’s book. I may never find the time for such elaborate projects, but some days I imagine that a fourth generation will find delight in the project my Grandpa started and will continue to build on it as some sort of family legacy. For now it is enough that I find miniature making soothing. Below are photos of some of my favourite rooms and pieces. I've used a mix of mediums and methods to make furniture. Everything from 3D printing, to cardboard wrapped in fabric, to yard dipped in glue and wrapped around a balloon!
