In May of 2022, I encountered a delightful opportunity! A community member was looking for a youth leader to supervise the finishing of a mural during a block party. I'm a pretty artistic person. And I do my best to be an active community member. So when I heard about the project I reached out immediately to see if they still needed someone.
Lucky for me, they did! Which is how I found myself spending a weekend helping set people up to paint sunflowers at the top of a wall. The project had been started before the pandemic hit, but like most things in life had been stalled by lockdown. This block party was the perfect opportunity to finish the mural!
